Pergolas & gazebos are certainly beautiful additions to a property and can offer some shelter from the elements, but many people have a limited imagination of what they can use pergolas & gazebos for. Most of the time, you’ll see outdoor furniture beneath them to create a comfortable and aesthetically pleasing lounging area. There are other ways you can use these additions too, though. Here are a few examples.
- Hot Tub – If you have a hot tub, placing it beneath a pergola or gazebo could be a great choice aesthetically and functionally. While you and your family or friends are in the hot tub, you can enjoy the shade. In addition, keeping the hot tub partially or completely covered with a pergola or gazebo, respectively, can help to minimize debris in the water.
- Dining Area – Pergolas & gazebos can really elevate outdoor dining areas, especially if they are decorated with climbing vines or string lights that create a beautiful ambience. They can also improve the dining experience by offering some protection from the sun.
- Movie Theater – An outdoor movie theater is great fun for all ages. Set up your projector and screen beneath the pergola or gazebo to create a defined area for movie watching and protect your equipment from the elements while you’re at it.
- Grill or Bar – Whether you love to throw parties or just want to enjoy great food and drinks with a few loved ones, you might consider placing your grill or bar beneath your pergola or gazebo. If you choose to put a grill there, just make sure there is good ventilation and place it between columns instead of against one, so any sparks or ashes won’t be a fire hazard.
